This is Not a Hearing. This is a Robbery.

If I told you someone was walking toward your well, with poison in their hands, you would get up and go out there, right?

Someone is walking toward your well, or your reservoir, or your aquifer, or your headwaters, or your groundwater - a very big someone is walking towards your drinking water with poison in their hands. Get up. Go out there.

This August, Walking the Line invites 1,000 Virginia neighbors to join us for a ritual of silence and music at any of five separate public hearings on the environmental impacts of the proposed Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley Pipelines. “This is not a hearing” and “This is a robbery” is our message and our truth, and we need 1,000 people on five nights to send that message and tell that truth. Full calendar and location details below.

Make no mistake, this is about the future and the water of every Virginian. And we have to show up in force now. This fight is now.

We will bring 1,000 of the message gags you see above for you to hold as we line the pathways to the hearings in a peaceful, lawful ritual of silent witness alternating with a group sing of “Sow Em on the Mountain: Reap Em in the Valley”, our pipeline resistance anthem. Song leaders and lyrics will be there or you can listen to our Sow Em on the Mountain song videos on our Facebook page or on Youtube, to get ready.

We gather to support those who testify and also to expose these hearings as a sham, hastily scheduled in unlikely locations without release of the information we, as the public, need in order to frame a fully informed response.

We gather to tell the story of the corruption at the heart of these pipelines projects and permitting processes.

You do not have to be an expert on this complex and long battle to protect our water and our neighbors land and our rights to our own land to participate. You do have to show up right now between August 7 and August 14.

Now. This fight is Now.

By coming early and participating in the ritual, you can send a strong message through the media and also sign up to speak inside the hearings for 2 minutes. Some folks are bringing water from the source closest or most precious to them along with pictures of themselves near or using that water.

Hearings begin at 6. Our ritual begins at 5:15 and can be joined until 6.
